Our custom falling film evaporator is widely deployed in pharmaceutical, food, chemical, light industry and industrial wastewater treatment for evaporation and concentration of aqueous solutions and organic solvent solutions. It is especially well suited for heat sensitive materials.
The system runs continuously under vacuum and low temperature conditions. Featuring high evaporation capacity, remarkable energy saving and low operating cost, our precision-engineered falling film evaporator ensures product integrity and avoids thermal degradation during concentration. We provide customized single effect, multi effect and MVR integrated solutions, with optional GMP-compliant design and CIP cleaning structure to meet strict hygiene requirements for food, pharma and natural plant extract industries.
Feed liquid enters the upper tube box of the heating chamber. Our optimized liquid distribution and film forming device evenly distributes the feed into every heat exchange tube. Driven by gravity, vacuum pull and vapor flow, the liquid spreads into a uniform thin film and flows downward along the inner wall of tubes.
While flowing down, the thin film is heated by shell-side heating medium to generate vapor. The mixture of secondary vapor and concentrated liquid flows into the evaporator separator for gas-liquid separation. After separation, the vapor either flows into the condenser for condensation in single effect operation, or serves as heating medium for the next effect to realize multi effect evaporation. The concentrated liquid is discharged from the separator.
Our proprietary liquid distribution design avoids dry spots and uneven film formation, shortens material residence time and minimizes product deterioration, which is the core advantage for heat-sensitive feedstock processing.
We offer four configurable process layouts according to your feed property, target concentration and energy budget: co-current (parallel flow), counter-current, mixed flow and parallel feed flow.
Co-current Flow
Solution and secondary vapor travel in the same direction from the first effect to the last effect. Feed liquid is pumped into the first effect and flows automatically to subsequent effects by inter-effect pressure difference. Concentrated product is discharged from the last effect under negative pressure.
Since the pressure of the latter effect is lower, the solution boiling point drops accordingly. Flash evaporation occurs when feed enters the next effect, generating extra secondary vapor. As concentration rises and operating temperature reduces along the flow path, the first effect usually has a much higher heat transfer coefficient than the final effect. Co-current configuration is the most common option for heat-sensitive materials reaching high final concentration.
Counter-current Flow
Raw feed is pumped from the last effect to the first effect sequentially, and finished concentrate is discharged from the first effect. Liquid and steam flow in opposite directions. This layout fits solutions whose viscosity changes drastically with temperature and concentration, but is not recommended for heat-sensitive materials.
Mixed Flow
Combining co-current and counter-current arrangements, mixed flow inherits strengths of both schemes while mitigating their drawbacks. However, it requires sophisticated automatic control and more complex operation logic, which we can deliver with customized PLC control system.
Parallel Feed Flow
Each effect receives independent feed and produces concentrated liquid separately. Crystals can precipitate and be separated in every effect in a timely manner. This configuration is widely adopted for evaporation of saturated solutions with crystal formation.
We tailor the material of wetted parts (SS304 / SS316L / titanium etc.), liquid distributor, separator and control system based on your feed characteristics, capacity requirement and compliance standard.
