Palmyra palm sap is widely used as a natural sweetener in Southeast Asia. With its high sugar concentration and high viscosity, it is considered a typical heat-sensitive material. Under conventional drying conditions, it can be susceptible to caramelization and excessive browning. On-site testing showed that the concentrated feed material had a soluble solids content of 78 °Bx, placing stringent requirements on temperature accuracy, vacuum stability, and heating uniformity throughout the drying process.
Recently, our company successfully completed a vacuum belt drying trial using concentrated Palmyra palm sap, locally known as Nira Lontar, supplied by a customer from Indonesia. The trial covered the complete process from feeding to discharge, successfully transforming the golden, high-sugar concentrate into a light-yellow powder with a measured moisture content as low as 0.03%. The excellent trial results were highly recognized by the customer, laying a solid foundation for further cooperation on industrial-scale production.
Considering the high sugar content and heat-sensitive properties of the material, our team selected a Vacuum Belt Dryer for the trial. Operating under low-temperature vacuum conditions, the system significantly reduces the risk of caramelization and excessive browning during the drying process. Continuous belt conveying ensures stable and uniform dehydration of the material. The system integrates feeding, drying, crushing, and discharge into a continuous production process. It is also equipped with an automated touchscreen control system, allowing key operating parameters, including feed rate, vacuum level, and drying temperature, to be adjusted and precisely coordinated in real time.
Following the drying trial, the finished product was retested. According to an on-site moisture analyzer, the sample achieved a measured moisture content of 0.03%. The final result remains subject to confirmation in the official test report.
The finished product was a light-yellow to off-white powder with an extremely low residual moisture content, demonstrating the vacuum belt dryer’s excellent deep-dehydration performance.
The low-temperature vacuum process helped minimize the effects of heat on the product’s natural color, flavor, and heat-sensitive components. The resulting powder also showed good reconstitution properties. Overall, the trial results met the customer’s key technical requirements at this stage and received positive recognition.
This successful trial not only demonstrated the performance of our vacuum belt drying technology but also reflected our comprehensive technical service capabilities. Throughout the trial, our engineering team provided end-to-end support, from process parameter adjustment to final product inspection. The resulting data provides a reliable technical basis for future equipment selection, process optimization, and industrial scale-up, helping the customer efficiently transform high-sugar raw materials into higher-value finished products.
Looking ahead, our company will continue to advance its expertise in vacuum belt drying technology, further optimizing equipment performance, process control, and full-lifecycle technical services. Serving the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and botanical extraction industries, we are committed to providing customers worldwide with high-quality, efficient, and energy-saving drying solutions.
Customers from around the world are welcome to send their materials to our facility for drying trials. Through real trial data and customized process development, we look forward to working with our global partners to create mutually beneficial opportunities.
